Course Overview:
This advanced Spanish course delves into the depths of identity, intersectionality, and interculturality. The course is centered around Gloria Anzaldúa’s “Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza” and is designed for students with a solid Spanish foundation. The course aims to explore complex cultural narratives and enhance linguistic proficiency.
Key Components:
The course comprises interactive Zoom sessions, focused readings, flipped classrooms, and Comprehensible Input (CI) methodologies.
Interactive Zoom Sessions: Weekly 1-hour meetings every Wednesday on Zoom will foster live discussion and engagement with the material and peers.
Focused Readings: Carefully selected chapters from “Borderlands” will guide our exploration of Anzaldúa’s themes.
Flipped Classroom: Engage with readings and multimedia resources before class to enrich discussions and activities.
CI Methodologies: We will employ Comprehensible Input strategies for a deeper understanding and practical use of advanced Spanish.
