Jean-Claude Mourlevat is a French writer, known for his fairy-tale, fable, and fantasy-inspired novels. He has won numerous awards for his work, including the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award in 2021. The book we will read together, “Silhouette”, is a collection of 10 short stories.
The author describes it that way: “Ten short stories that would all end badly… or very badly. And which would show life as it often is: brutally cruel. That’s the literary game I’ve played, perhaps so that the reader can say: Ah, things are going well for me, after all!”
I am excited to share this book with you all and explore its themes and characters together. The book club will be a great opportunity to enhance your French in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.
